1966 Ford Mustang Convertible

289, automatic, power steering, chrome valve covers & air cleaner, Rally Pac, styled steel wheels, luggage rack.  Brand new complete restoration.

The 289 engine was completely rebuilt and detailed. The original valve covers were "show quality" chrome plated and a new chrome air cleaner assembly installed. New chrome oil filler and radiator caps were installed. The C-4 automatic transmission was rebuilt, a new torque converter and new cooling lines were installed. Spark plugs, spark plug wires, distributor cap, ignition points, condenser, rotor and vacuum advance are new. The neutral safety and backup light switch is new. New universal joints were installed. The differential and housing assembly was cleaned and painted. New front wheel bearings and seals were installed. New brakes, brake lines and hoses, master and wheel cylinders were installed. The parking brake system was rebuilt, detailed and adjusted. The front suspension was completely rebuilt and aligned. The power steering control valve was rebuilt. The power steering pump seals, cylinder sleeve and hoses are new. 4 new heavy duty shock absorbers were installed. The radiator and heater core are new. A complete new exhaust system was installed. All the engine belts, hoses and clamps are new. The motor and transmission mounts were inspected, cleaned and painted. The alternator, starter, voltage regulator and starter solenoid are new, The carburetor was rebuilt. New water and fuel pumps were installed.

The engine compartment was painted and the trunk compartment detailed. The styled steel wheels are new. 5 new 6.95X14 Goodyear power cushion vintage whitewall tires were installed or they can be exchanged for optional radials. The entire car was completely stripped to bare metal and painted original candy apple red. The hood, door, trunk latches and hinges were cleaned, painted and adjusted. All 4 splash shield assemblies are new. The window regulators were cleaned, lubricated and adjusted. A new fuel tank and sending unit were installed. All the weatherstripping, seals, hood and door bumpers and body plugs are new. A new shaded windshield and new wiper blades were installed. The windshield washer pump, washer reservoir and hoses are new. The battery tray and hold down are new. A new 24F battery and cables were installed.

A new white convertible top, weatherstrips, boot and well liner were installed. The convertible rear belt mouldings and snap screws are new. New sun visor brackets were installed and the inside windshield header moulding was replated. The outside windshield trim and lock cylinders were polished. New halogen headlights and headlight and dimmer switches were installed. The bumpers were "show quality" chrome plated and the bumper brackets were cleaned and painted. New front and rear bumper guards were installed. The original grille was cleaned and painted. The grille horse & corral ornament, grille opening panels and center joint cover are new. The hood moulding & letters, fender emblems, rocker panel mouldings, outside door handles, quarter panel ornaments, tail light bezels, trunk lock sleeve, gas cap, backup light assemblies, outside mirror and radio antenna are new. New park light assemblies and new tail light lenses were installed. A new luggage rack was installed. All the fender and hood bolts were replaced.

The entire interior was repainted and all of the upholstery, door panels, glove box insert, vinyl windlace, dash pad, kick panels, arm rests, sun visors and carpet are new. The seat tracks were cleaned, painted and lubricated. New lock knobs and grommets were installed. The instrument bezel is new and the needles were repainted. A new steering wheel and horn ring assembly were installed. The inside rear view mirror and bracket are new. A new radio speaker was installed. All the dash knobs & bezels were cleaned & polished. A new shifter dial & boot, turn signal lever, seat side moldings, sill moldings & emblems, pedal pads & trim and all the window and door handles are new. The heater cables were cleaned and adjusted. A new heater plenum and seal kit were installed. The electrical system was completely rebuilt and the headlight feed, engine feed and tail light wiring harnesses were replaced with new.

In addition to the above, many details too numerous to mention were performed during the restoration process, including new owners manual, refurbished ash trays, new screws, bushings, wire ends, bulbs, fuses, etc.
